Shielding of Photosynthetic Apparatus by Consortia of Bacterial Endophytes in Tomato Plants Suffering From Fusarium Wilt

چکیده

Fusarium oxysporum is one of the most damaging plant pathogens causing wilt in many plants leading to serious economic loss. The fungus colonizes xylem, which leads resistance water flow thereby affecting rate photosynthesis. present study focuses on selection bacterial endophytes isolated from tomato and evaluating their potential antagonize vivo . results obtained indicated that two endophytic isolates, namely Pseudomonas fluorescens BUMD5 Bacillus velezensis BUMD9, could act as efficient biocontrol agents (BCAs) they inhibited growth pathogen by 67.2 69.1%, respectively, vitro Both isolates were found produce hydrolytic enzymes chitinase protease. They also produced siderophore hydrogen cyanide (HCN). consortia both significantly reduced infection percentage about 67% a 3-fold decrease disease severity was observed compared control. treatment infected with these potent beneficial improving overall photosynthetic performance index (PI). Thus, treated exhibited better despite being pathogen.

Integrated management strategies for tomato Fusarium wilt.

Fusarium wilt is caused by the fungal pathogens, Fusarium oxysporum or Fusarium solani. It is a devastating disease that affects many important food and vegetable crops and a major source of loss to farmers worldwide. Initial strategies developed to combat this devastating plant disease include the use of cultural, physical and chemical control. None of these strategies have been able to give t...

Bacterial endophytes enhance competition by invasive plants.

UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Invasive plants can alter soil microbial communities and profoundly alter ecosystem processes. In the invasive grass Sorghum halepense, these disruptions are consequences of rhizome-associated bacterial endophytes. We describe the effects of N2-fixing bacterial strains from S. halepense (Rout and Chrzanowski, 2009) on plant growth and show that bacteria intera...

Enhancement of bacterial wilt resistance and rhizosphere health in tomato using bionanocomposites

Biological control agents are useful components in the enhancement of plant disease resistance and improvement of soil properties. Effect of biological control agents (BCAs) as a disease control method in plants is hampered by their vulnerability to environmental and edaphic conditions. This study entailed the use of chitosan-silica nanocomposites for delivery of BCAs. Effect of BCAs-nanocompos...

Reduced Bacterial Wilt in Tomato Plants by Bactericidal Peroxyacetic Acid Mixture Treatment

Peroxyacetic acid mixture Perosan, composed of peroxyacetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid, was evaluated for eco-friendly management of tomato bacterial wilt by Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum. Perosan drastically suppressed in vitro growth of R. pseudosolanacearum in liquid cultures in dose- and incubation time-dependent manners. Higher perosan doses (0.1 and 1%) caused lowered pH and p...

Testing of Bacterial Endophytes from Non-Host Sources as Potential Antagonistic Agents against Tomato Wilt Pathogen Ralstonia solanacearum

The study was taken up with the objective of testing whether the endophytic organisms isolated from crops that are normally non-hosts to the bacterial wilt pathogen Ralstonia solanacearum possessed pathogen-antagonistic activity and to evaluate the selected isolates for the alleviation of wilt disease in the target tomato crop through horizontal movement of promising organisms. Sixteen endophyt...
